Kung Fu Health Benefits

If not for the Kung Fu Health Benefits, I would have had no exercise over the last 10+ years. Having a specific goal, dragged me out of bed or forced me after a long day at work to spend 1-2 hours a couple times a week to exercise. Yes, I had a Gold’s gym membership I used on my says off for 30 minutes which was followed by a trip to the food court or buffet and the home gym equipment that doubled as a coat rack.

Other than the motivation, the forms and drills were a form of meditation where my mind was focused on the action and the long day at work or other stresses were not on my mind. I would feel burned out after 9 hours of work mixed with the crash headache and exhaustion of too much coffee in the morning. For some reason, after I finished class I felt better and in a good mood when I was done. My headache would resolve as well. I am not sure what it was, the activity?

While I never got that 6-pack, other people in my class lost a lot of weight. They were motivated to eat healthier. I was able to maintain around the same weight but my endurance and stamina increased a lot as well as my coordination and balance.

Like most things, you get out of it what you put in. At my peak, I was going 3 days a week for 2 hours each time. Other than fighting skills, you will have a way to exercise and clear your mind the rest of your life that you can pass on to future generations as well.
